 about

Magna Gallery is the creation of artist Betsy Bond. Betsy is currently in her final year of studying for a BA in Contempoary Arts Practice at Bath Spa's School of Art. In 2017 Betsy received a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Knitting Needles in the World' and realised scale can change how we perceive a seemingly ordinary world.

Making things smaller is strangely a bigger challenge, but it also opens up so many possibilities making seemingly impossible dreams something you can grasp, figuratively and literally, in the palm of your hand. Magna Gallery, at a 1:12 scale, makes us revaluate our how we can present our work. The ceramicist who hopes to create a sculpture that could fill a room but only to be dashed by the limited size of a kiln can now easily fill our whole gallery space. The limiting nature of physics on art can be overridden as weight and structural strengths can be reduced down to a better scale.

Now Magna magic can take the art gallery to the people, bringing an enlightening experience to those that would not normally access the traditional gallery. Magna Gallery also fulfils the aspirations of an emerging artist who doesn't want to play in a domestic space but to curate her own kingdom
